I've learnt a lot from the experience iv learnt to do many films of each scene and to film a range of different angles i also learnt that i should try to avoid background noise as it does interfere with my film and not to film portrait as it makes editing a lot harder. I should have got the cast to slow down there speaking as when it can to editing it was a lot harder to edit together. I think that id got a range of footage to use but one thing I should have done is refer to my storyboard as I didn't when I began to film.
Q: What is the difference between pre-production, production and post-production?
Pre- production is the storyboard, the casting and the location planning. Production is the filming footage for the film. Post- production is the editing of the film.
Q: How easy did you find editing in iMovie? Explain at least 4 different skills or techniques that you learnt during this process.
I found the beginning of the editing quite easy as I could pick out the footage it'd use however i found it hard to put the footage together to make it flow smoothly. I'v learnt to add credits at the end to make it look more like a film. I'v learnt to add music and have it fade out I learnt that music changes the mood of the film how how it makes a difference to my film. I learnt how to take out background noise which helped make my film look more affective. I learnt how to speed up and slow down scenes which had a effect on my film.
Q: What is continuity editing?
Continuity editing means that everything flows in a consistent, orderly, smooth, sequential manner. It means it is edited so that it makes sense to the audience.
Q: What do the following terms mean; a) match on action, and b) shot / reverse shot
Match on action is where if something is happening it flows into the next scene and doesn't jump and miss a part out. Shot reverse shot is where theres a conversation between 2 characters and there over the shoulder shots of the other character talking without breaking the 180 degree rule.
Q: Analyse your preliminary task as a piece of continuity editing. What are its strengths and what are its weaknesses. You may find it useful to include targetted screen shots (cmd+shift+4)to illustrate the points that you make.
I think that the continuity went well for instance this scene it was a smooth flow from one clip to another its Rebecca going to pick up the phone, then the next clip she's picking it up i managed to edit the scene so theres no continuity errors.
The cast remembered their lines which is helpful but the editing was really hard as the scenes happen way to quick and don't flow smoothly, I should have got the lines said slowly to make editing easier.
A continuity error was as Evie sits down there is a piece of paper next to her but in the rest of the scenes go on the piece of paper isn't there so i should have taken the paper out before i filmed the scene.

Well done Nicole. You started the course very nervously but you are growing in confidence and seem to be enjoying the work we are doing now.
ReplyDeleteThis is a sound evaluation in which you show that you understand key media terminology and have the ability to think reflectively about the work that you have done.
Your personality is such that you will need to make extra efforts when it comes to working in a group with other students who may not necessarily be your friends. How do you think you will need to change the way you approach this stage of the main task in order to be really successful.
I think I need to learn to talk to others who I dont usually talk to and work with others to complete my work and to complete the 2 minute horror opening. I need to gain confidence in the classroom aswell. And yes I am enjoying the work im doing now I enjoy Horror and cant wait to do the filming of the task :)
DeleteReflecting on what you need to do to become a better 'learner' is really important and it seems as if you are starting to do this. Well done.
