The purpose of the task is to research the fears people may have and how the fears may have developed and why. This gives me an idea of the fears people have and how these fears can used in the 2 minute film opening for instance something appearing in the dark following someone as this is a fear a lot of people may have. Blood and the dark are 2 of the most common fears and both are used in horror films because in every horror film theres nearly always blood involved and a large amount, also most murders take place at night in the dark which people after watching films have gained a fear from it and are now scared of the dark.
Horror films are designed to elicit strong emotional reactions from viewers, including fear and dread; and they achieve this as people when watching a horror film do get scared and fear whats going to happen. Nearly everyone who has watched a horror film has been disturbed or scared while watching it. When the viewer feels like something scary is going to happen they are most likely going to hide or cover their face with their hands but very likely to watch the scary part any way no matter how much they try not to watch it and usually react after the scary bit where they jumped they react by laughing as they feel silly for jumping as the film isn't real and in fact the viewer is actually safe.
You have explained very well why horror movies are for as well as why people watch them. You also explained in the first paragraph what the purpose of the research was and how it helped you and your group to understand people's fears and how they developed. To improve your work further, you could give several examples of horror movies that are about your fears and more detail about your own fear in the first paragraph.
